Senior GIS Technician at PlotBox

We have an exciting position for a Senior GIS Technician here at PlotBox. Reporting into the Mapping Team Manager, you will work alongside a team of GIS Technicians, Engineers and Surveyors. The purpose of the role is to contribute to the completion of all Mapping related tasks to satisfy our customers’ needs and to the continual innovation of the product.

Responsibilities 

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Creation of georeferenced aerial mosaics
• Using Photoshop to alter TIFFs and PNGs.
• Creating webmaps through the use of Arcmap, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
• Design work using AutoCAD
• Champion product consistency and support implementation of product standards.
• Continuous innovation to improve current product capabilities.
• Triage inbound mapping tickets related to delivery projects and live customers.
  • Ownership of MAT completion 
  • E2E ownership of all Jira tickets related to the mapping lifecycle.
• Line management of GIS Technicians and Operatives
• Act as an escalation point for issues related to the product and project team 
• Support remotely onsite data matching teams to ensure quality of captured data and live updates to webmaps (Some of this work can be outside of standard working hours. Overtime Rate or Time in Lieu available for these periods)
• Using feedback from onsite data matching teams to complete high quality webmaps to ensure customer satisfaction. 
• Produce Mapping reports and communicate on these effectively with clients post onsite work.
• Create and maintain a comprehensive QA plan for mapping team GIS processes.

Who we think will be a great fit

We are looking for an experienced GIS professional who can hit the ground running and work autonomously to deliver successful results.      

ESSENTIAL:   

• 5 years experience (or equivalent) in a similar position
• Educated to degree level. Ideally you’ll hold a  Bachelor of Science degree in geography, computer science or engineering or equivalent. 
• Leadership skills, with relevant experience managing teams and/or projects.
• Strong writing and oral communication skills
• Demonstrable experience working in other industries 
• Solid understanding and experience of using the following tools in a professional environment:
  • Photoshop
  • ArcGIS Pro
  • ArcGIS Online
  • G suite (mail, drive, hangout, docs)
  • Microsoft 365 app’s

DESIRABLE:  

• Experience in use of:
  • Pix4D
  • AutoCAD
  • Python
  • Jira software
• Knowledge of GIS programming
